BetMGM Affiliate Program

Affiliate Programs

While BetMGM isn’t as popular as FanDuel and DraftKings, it still owns a considerable market share (14%) in the United States iGaming and sports betting industry.

On top of being one of the most popular betting apps with consumers, BetMGM also runs one of the largest affiliate programs in the U.S. The BetMGM affiliate program includes both the company’s sportsbook and casino products.

BetMGM offers both cost per acquisition (CPA) and revenue share (rev share) and deals. While payouts vary greatly based on how much traffic you can send and other factors, you can expect CPAs to range from $100 to $300 for sportsbook and $100 to $400 for casino. Rev share deals tend to be between 20% and 40%.

You can apply for the BetMGM affiliate program here. In my experience, the BetMGM affiliate program is a bit easier to get into than the DraftKings affiliate program, but you’ll still have to convince them that you’ll be able to drive new, quality sign-ups.

BetMGM Affiliate Program Commissions & Payouts

Before we dive into specific payout amounts, you should know that many states require affiliates to be licensed to promote online gambling, including both sports betting and casino. There typically aren’t any licensing requirements to promote DFS.

There are two types of deals that BetMGM offers: CPA and rev share.

With CPA deals, you get paid a flat fee when someone signs up through your links and makes their first deposit and bet, you get paid out a flat fee.

These players are often referred to as First Time Depositers (FTDs). Don’t be surprised if BetMGM or any other operator asks you how many FTDs you can drive each month during the application review process.

CPA deals typically range from $100 to $300 for sportsbook and $100 to $400 for casino.

This is the most popular type of deal that sports betting operators do with affiliates since it requires a lower level of license in most states and is much more straightforward.

Rev share

With rev share deals, you get a portion of the net gaming revenue (NGR) that BetMGM makes off the player for a portion of time. If a player signs up for BetMGM through your links and loses money, you get a portion of those earnings for BetMGM.

Rev share payouts range from 20% to 40%.

So, say for example you have a 40% rev share deal with BetMGM and a player signs up and loses $500 in the first year of playing (BetMGM’s revenue from that player). In this case, you would earn $200 as a part of your rev share deal.

Before moving on, it’s worth noting that many states require affiliates to have advanced (and expensive) licenses if they operate under a rev share deal.

In New Jersey, for example, it is free to get a vendor registration number that allows you to promote CPA deals but it costs $2,000 to apply for an Ancillary CSIE license that allows you to operate under a rev share deal.

When you get paid out

One nice thing about BetMGM is that it has its own cashier section that allows you to withdraw earnings when you want. Instead of getting paid out monthly as you do with the FanDuel affiliate program, you have the option to cash out your money at any time or let it sit until it hits a higher amount.

While this does require a bit of extra work (just a few clicks, really), it can help you save on transaction fees that your bank may charge. For example, if you have just $100 in earnings in your account but your bank charges a $10 transaction fee, you could wait until you earn more so you don’t have to pay the fee multiple times.

Tips for Succeeding With the BetMGM Affiliate Program

Here are some tips for succeeding with the BetMGM affiliate program both before applying and after getting in:

  • Don’t sign up until you can drive conversions. If you don’t have traffic to your website, a decent following on social media, or another way to drive sign-ups at BetMGM, you may want to wait to apply. If you can’t convince BetMGM that you can new customers, your application will probably get rejected and it may be harder to get in later on. In addition, if you do happen to get in but can’t drive any new players, they may end the partnership.
  • Use click-tracking software. Using click-tracking software like Pretty Links, Lasso, or Bitly can help you figure out which pages are driving clicks so you can focus on optimizing them and featuring them on your site/socials more. You can also use this info to figure out which type of content you should create in the future.
  • Utilize the banners BetMGM provides. If you’re accepted into the BetMGM affiliate program, you’ll get access to banners to embed on your site and social media to help drive clicks. These eye-catching creatives stand out amongst other content and are a great way to drive new customers.
  • Integrate BetMGM into tools on your site. If you offer odds comparison tools, calculators, +EV bets or arb finders, or anything else like that, you should work to integrate BetMGM (and your affiliate link) into them. If you don’t have these tools yet, we can help you out here at Sportsbook API. Our Sports Betting Odds API pulls in odds and lines from BetMGM and other sportsbooks that you can use to create helpful tools that attract readers to your site.
  • Create content specifically about BetMGM. One of the best ways to drive customers to BetMGM is to create content for people who are already considering joining. Use keyword research and social media listening tools to find what people are searching for related to BetMGM and create content targeting those queries.
  • Highlight promotions for ongoing customers. BetMGM offers a lot of odds boosts, profit boosts, free rolls, parlay insurance, and other ways to earn bonus bets or bigger payouts. Make sure to highlight these, not just the sign-up bonus. If bettors who haven’t joined BetMGM yet see how many promotions they are missing out on, they may be convinced to join.
  • Make sure you have proper disclosures. Finally, make sure you have proper disclosures on your site. BetMGM will likely make this clear once you sign up, but everywhere you include an advertisement or mention of the sign-up bonus, you should make sure you include the proper disclosures—including both that you are a partner of BetMGM and responsible gambling disclosures (think the “Gambling Problem? Call 1-800-GAMBLER). Not only do these keep you in compliance with BetMGM, they are also required by the FTC.
